Getting Started with Private Tutoring

Our process for matching the best tutor to meet your educational requirements includes doing an assessment of your needs during the initial phone consultation. We will speak with you and your daughter or son to clearly identify what the challenges might be.

We will need to know the best days and times you require tutoring and how long you would like the sessions to be (for example, 1 or 1.5 or 2 hours). Based on this information, we will send a suitable tutor to your home.

During the first private tutoring session we continue the evaluation process. We do this because we know that fifty percent of problem-solving is knowing what the problem is clearly. Therefore, by attaining this clarity, we can develop the best tutorial plan.

Please have the following information available for our tutor to review:

  • Current report cards
  • Previously marked assignments
  • Notes from parent/teacher conferences
  • Copies of tests

How often do I need a tutor?

Tutoring sessions are one to five times per week depending on your needs and are usually long-term. Short-term help is also provided should you require it.

Simply contact us by phone Monday through Friday 604-421-6101 with the following information.

What subjects are problematic?
What days and times are best for tutoring?
How long would you like each session to be?
What is the grade level?

That's it! We will send a suitable tutor to your home to meet the student and continue the assessment.

What happens during an evaluation?

During the evaluation, the tutor will speak with you, your child and then review current and recent reports, previous assignments, notes from parent-teacher conferences, and any copies of tests then start tutoring!
